Ninja & Kabuki, on one stage
Two of the traditions Japan is most proud of — ninja and kabuki — meet in a single, close-range live performance in the heart of Shinjuku Kabukicho. Here is the story, the four stage elements, the people behind it and the cast you'll meet.
This is a story of two ninjas, spun since ancient times. A goddess descended from the heavens to entrust a peace-bringing sword to "Dragon" (the White Ninja), but his enemy "Tiger" (the Black Ninja), who knew of it, attacked and stole the sword. In despair, Dragon falls in love with a courtesan — the goddess's incarnation — yet rises to face his mission and fights once more to reclaim the blade.
Four elements of the stage

Powerful resonance and dynamic movement. The wadaiko opens the grand stage with traditional technique and thrilling rhythm.

殺陣 — Tate
Kabuki stage-fighting fused with modern action — honed technique and dynamic motion create an overwhelming performance; a new beauty of bushido.

日本舞踊 — Nihon Buyo
Stillness and motion, handed down through refined technique and expression. Elegant costumes, sophisticated movement — the allure of Japanese dance.

体験 — Taiken
A special program where guests actually try ninja movement (tate) — from how to hold the sword to basic choreography and the final "mie" pose — taught directly by real stage performers.
